Leading With Learning & Worker Power
Iowa used to be known nationally for its premier schools and investments in a well-educated and prepared workforce. Over the past decade, politicians in Des Moines have systematically dismantled our public education system while gutting worker protections. Our students and our workers deserve more respect.
At the statehouse, I will:
Restore funding to our public schools by ending Iowa’s private voucher scam that forces us to pay for wealthy Iowans to send their children to private schools while our teachers and public schools are left with shrinking resources.
Reverse the short-sighted attacks on labor protections by rolling back union-busting policies that make it harder for workers to collectively bargain for better pay and working conditions.
Provide free community college tuition for middle- and working-class Iowans.
Invest more, not less, in Iowa’s state universities, including Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, and the University of Northern Iowa.
